As part of its annual calendar of events, and in continuation of the celebrations held in previous years, the Embassy of India in Minsk would be organizing a Day of India on Sunday, September 23, 2018, from 1300 hrs to 1700 hrs at the Svobody Square in downtown Minsk. The Minsk City Executive Committee are supporting and co-organizing the event as active partners of the Embassy of India.

A 10-member troupe, headed by Mr. Mukundan Teruvath and representing Kalaripayattu – the ancient India martial arts tradition from which all other martial arts forms have been derived – has been specially invited from India to showcase their fabulous skills for the spectators.

Another unique attraction will be live storytelling by the renowned, UK-based Indian storyteller, Dr. Seema Anand, who has agreed to come all the way from London to share stories from Indian mythology and literature with both children and adults. There will be separate session for both, with interpretation provided.

A special Kids Zone will also be constructed, where various activities for children will be conducted, including storytelling, animation films and painting of collages based on Indian themes.

Apart from a variety of dance and music performances by local artistes trained in India, there will also be an Indian fashion show, Yoga and meditation workshops, lecture-demonstrations on Ayurveda, cooking master-classes to teach Indian dishes and mehendi body-art for those who would like to try it out. A team of sportsmen will also demonstrate the hugely popular game of cricket and would offer bystanders a chance to try their hand at batting, bowling and fielding. Other traditional Indian games are also on the cards.

Stalls selling Indian and vegetarian cuisine, Indian chai, spices, cosmetics and souvenirs will be playing their trade.

There will be something for everyone! You are welcome to this delightfully colorful Day of India.
